Quick update on Baby boy…

Yesterday, I had a baby doctor appointment.  This is mostly just for my records…  But anywho…

I had my 1 hour glucose test.  Failed it by 12 points!!!!!  I was so sure I was going to pass it… but I didn’t.  I have to go back for a 3 hour test next Wednesday (because that is the next day I will be off…  I’m on my work week now).

The doctor said I gained too much weight this month.  I believe he said I gained 6 lbs!!!!  Wow….  Wasn’t expecting that either…  So, I’m at a total of 17 lbs.  He only wanted me to gain 15 lbs this WHOLE pregnancy.  Umm….. Ok!

He measured my belly…  I’m measuring at 28 weeks.  I’m only 24 1/2 weeks!!!  What the crap.  I just can’t win!!!!!!!!

He is concerned about the size of the baby…  I remember him making the comment, “I’m afraid we are going to have a big baby!”

Greeeeeaaaaatttt……

So, the only good thing I got out of that appointment is that the baby still has a heartbeat.  His heartbeat was in the 150’s…  (can’t remember the exact number considering I had glucose results, weight, and measurements all in my head too!!)

I go back to see the doctor in 3 weeks, instead of 4 this time.  Not sure why…  I forgot to ask.  I think I was just too irritated and hungry at that point to care.  I just wanted out of that office and Chick-fil-a in my mouth (I was fasting from the glucose test…)

I’ll let y’all know how my 3 hour GTT goes next Wednesday.  Wish me luck… say a prayer… I really don’t want to have gestational diabetes!!!

Sweet Pea says…

I’ve seen lots of people doing this lately and I thought I would too…

Sweet Pea’s vocabulary is growing as much as she is!  She is constantly talking and saying new things every day.  Some of the stuff she says just makes me laugh!

She will be playing on my phone watching videos or whatever and just randomly say… “oh mi gooodness!”  I have no idea what she is doing half the time because if I say, “Can Mommy see?”, she will push me away and say, “No Mommy!”  or “Move!”

When we go to get her from Maw Maw and Paw Paw’s… she sometimes doesn’t want to come home with us.  She will hold her hand up at us and say, “No!  Go back!”

One of my favorite things to hear her say lately is the phrase, “I’s escited!”  Translation…  “I’m excited!”  If we say, we are going to see such and such… or we are going to the store to get such and such…  She will say “I’s escited!” and do her hands together in front of her chest…  It’s the cutest thing ever!

When we went to eat with my mom the other day… I was trying to ask her what she wanted to drink.  She obviously did not want me bothering her because she cut her eyes up at me and said, “I’m talking people!”  But the funny thing was when the waitress walked up and tried to talk to her, she froze up.  She is shy with new people.  :-)

She was looking for Minnie Mouse the other day and I knew it was in our bedroom floor.  I told her to go in there to get it but be quiet because Daddy was sleeping.  She held her finger up to her mouth and said, “Shh.  Don’t wake him up.  Be quiet!”

This morning, we were eating breakfast.  She was almost done, but she started counting her fingers.  I told her to finish eating and she stopped and said, “I’m counting!”  And there have been times where I have told her to come here so I could change her diaper or clothes… and she is busy dancing to music videos, she will look at me mean and say, “I’m dancing, Mommy!”  She’s always too busy to do what I tell her!  Haha!

This is just a random phrase I guess she picked up from me.  “You’re so saweet.”  I’m always telling her that she’s so sweet, because MOST of the time, she is.  :-)

Another word she has become fond of…  “Because…”  If we ask her why she is doing something… she says…  “because…”  The first time she said it, I about died because I didn’t know she even knew that word!  Ha!

She definitely knows who she is!!  If I call her Miss Sassy or Miss Bossy etc…  she informs me…  “No, I’m Grace.”

She is little Miss Independent, most of the time.  If anyone tries to help her with something, she will respond with, “No, Gracie do it!”

And I guess this post is getting to be a little longer than I thought it would be.  You just don’t realize how much your child says until you sit down and write it out.  She’s getting so grown and it just makes me want to cry and smile at the same time!

I’m sure I’ll have to do another post like this in the future, but this is all for now!

Some random pictures…

I thought I would post some pictures I had on my phone…

Silly girl somehow got tangled up in her shirt one day and walked up to me and said, “Stuck!”  Don’t ask… because I don’t know!  Haha!

This awesome quilt is hanging on her wall.  It obviously has the alphabet on it.  She loves to point and ask, “What letter?”  So, hopefully she will know those soon…

IMG_1218

I have always been a sucker for sleeping babies.  Sleeping toddlers are just as sweet!

IMG_1223

Playing in “her” room over at Maw Maw and Paw Paw’s.

IMG_1224

Again… don’t ask… I don’t know!!  I just know she was trying to get something out of her car…  And she got stuck.  Haha!  I had to snap a picture first though…  ;-)

IMG_1229

I have tried to explain to her that she would be able to see the tv better if she would sit in the chair!  She doesn’t care though…

IMG_1236

Wednesday, we emptied her piggy bank and took it to the real bank to make a deposit in her savings account.  We had to snap a picture with her piggy bank before we left.

IMG_1240

Friday, we went to Ttown to meet my mom and have lunch with her.  We went to Red Lobster (even though I am allergic to everything on the menu) and Sweet Pea was fascinated by the lobsters in the tank!

IMG_1264

After lunch, we ventured out to find some tennis shoes/play shoes.  Her Keds get way too dirty and I wanted to find something that she could wear to school and outside to play.  So, we bought her first pair of New Balance (with pink around the N of course!).  She loves them!

IMG_1267

We went to the mall to kill some time and so Mr. Right could get a quick hair cut.  She talked me into letting her out of the stroller… and I told her she better not run off!  You can see how well that sunk in…  She was about to take off!!

IMG_1270

We made a stop at Yogurt Mountain before heading home.  She ate every bit of her yogurt….

IMG_1272

…and then drank the melted stuff!

IMG_1273

And last but not least!  Today we went to town to get a few things from Wal-Mart…  But we stopped by the mall on our way because I was wanting to get SOMETHING for our little man.  Everywhere I go, I can’t find anything I like for him and I just feel bad that I have yet to buy our son anything at all.  I was feeling like a bad mommy.  So, we went to JCP and I found a fleece sleeper (on the left) and a cute little outfit (on the right).  So I feel a little better now.  We still have a lot more to purchase for him (not only clothing) but this was a start.

3 year anniversary!

August 14th was our 3rd anniversary!  To think that Mr. Right has put up with me that long… I just want to say, bless his heart!  Haha!

I love you so much!!

I just thought I would put all the pictures from the past few years up for comparison.  Apparently, short hair is a trend in August for me????  Ha!  Makes me want to barf.  I’m trying to let it grow back out.

Anywho…  Here’s to many more years with my Mr. Right!  :-)

Charli’s first birthday!

Last Saturday, we went to down for Charli’s (my bff’s little girl) first birthday!  It’s so hard to believe she is already one year old.

She had a luau theme party so we got to go swimming.  I was NOT thrilled at all about having to get in a swimsuit… in public… around people I know….  But I did it for my baby girl.  I knew she would have wanted to swim.  She had a blast!

[This is my “are you taking pictures?!” look I gave Mr. Right.  Haha!]

[But then I was ok with him taking pictures because I am NEVER in any pictures with her… because I’m always the one taking them!]

Charli’s cute little smash cake!

The cake was soooo yummy!

Sweet Pea dressed in her luau attire!  She was not happy with that lei on her head, but I LOVE this picture!  She is too precious!

IMG_1192

Charli enjoyed her smash cake!  You can’t see well because of the wonderful phone picture…  My phone would not flash.

IMG_1193

Sweet Pea is chillin’ while enjoying a sucker.

IMG_1202

This was right before we headed home.  I wanted to get at least ONE picture of the birthday girl and Sweet Pea!  It’s not the greatest… but oh well.

IMG_1204

Charli was taking a dip with her grandmother.

IMG_1206

I had to stop in with Maranda and say bye.  She was trying to install the new big girl car seat.  Gotta love the ‘do…  She had on Charli’s headband/bow.

IMG_1207

I think she has outgrown it…

And that’s that….

Happy birthday Charli!

23 weeks!

(Picture taken at 22 weeks and 1 day.)

IMG_1181

How far along:  23 weeks

Size of baby:  Weighs about as much as a large mango…

Total weight gain:  I haven’t been getting on the scale lately… but I’m going to guess around 11 lbs maybe…??

Maternity clothes:  Umm… nope…. not really.  I have ATTEMPTED to shop for maternity clothes.  FAIL!  I have been wearing my maternity khakis from when I was pregnant with Sweet Pea…  My scrubs are getting extremely tight.  As a matter of fact, a coworker told me the other day that my pants were toooo tight!  Haha!  I might try to shop for some clothes again soon.  Or I might not…

Gender: BOY!  I know… I wasn’t going to find out… but oh well!!

Movement:  Here’s the deal…  That tight feeling I was having in my tummy that I thought was the baby…  I think it was Braxton Hicks contractions.  Yeah, I know it seems a little early to have had them as early at 16/17 weeks… but that is all it could have been.  It was that tight and uncomfortable feeling, so I’ve come to the conclusion that’s all it was at the time.  But NOW, I have definitely been feeling BABY!  Ever since about 20 1/2 weeks, I have been feeling little kicks here and there.  Mostly right after I would eat.  I guess Baby Boy was “thanking” me for the yummy food!  Haha!

Sleep:  It’s ok some nights…  Some nights not so much.

What I miss:  I miss being about to bend over and pick stuff up without groaning or getting light headed!  Haha!  I miss my clothes fitting comfortably.  I miss being able to breathe.

Cravings:  Nothing in particular.  I guess my sour/salty cravings have subsided.  I still like it, but I don’t crave it as much.

Symptoms:  Still nauseated at times.  Tired.  My carpal tunnel hasn’t been too bad over the past few weeks.

Food aversions:  Nothing that I can think of…

Milestones:  I guess finding out the gender!

Boy or girl…

Ok… I’m weak.

August 2nd, we had our detailed ultrasound.  If you know me in real life, you know that I have been hell bent on NOT finding out the gender of this baby.  BUT…  I made the stupid decision of taking an envelope with us to the ultrasound… and when the tech asked me if we wanted to know the gender, I said NO!… but I asked her if she could put it in the envelope and seal it up… just in case I wanted to know a few days from then… and I could just look.

I should have never even asked her to do that!  I should have known that I couldn’t hold out.

The very next night, we decided to look in the envelope.

To justify… I was starting to freak out a little… thinking… “What if it IS a boy and we don’t know… and we won’t be prepared…”  We have absolutely nothing gender neutral (except the big stroller).  Everything else is pink… or purple.  Mostly pink.

So…  What is it?????  Boy or girl… (If you have me on facebook, you already know the answer…)

IMG_1233[1]

It’s a BOY!

Just what I thought!!  And I’m thrilled!!!  I’m really hoping this boy is going to be MY baby because Sweet Pea is such a “Daddy’s girl”.  Haha!

So anyway… the rest of the story.

We decided not to tell anyone that we looked.  I didn’t want people to think that I was weak.  Everyone was saying, “You won’t last a week!”  So… I was going to prove them all wrong….

Until… I got a text message from my mom pretty much saying that my stupid aunt has gone out and bought fabric for the baby a quilt.  The colors are girly and there are flowers, etc….  (She was so sure it was going to be a girl because of the “high heart rate”….)  *big sigh*  *shaking my head*

After a few choice words…  I told her to just tell her and I would tell everyone else.  I didn’t want my son to have some fruity looking girly quilt (even though I know it would have been a gorgeous quilt).

So, now everyone knows.  I’m at ease now that I can start planning and buying for the baby.  Although, I am a little disappointed at myself for not being strong enough to hold out.

I told Mr. Right that since we found out the gender this time… we have to have one more baby so I can at least go one full pregnancy without finding out!  Ha!  He’s not too thrilled about that because he’s afraid we will end up with twins…  He’s happy with two children.  I wouldn’t mind another one… or two!  But we will see…

And just for the record… We haven’t even come close to picking out a name.  I’m ready to pull my hair out over this subject.  We will decide on something… then a few days later, I will decide that it doesn’t sound right and I really don’t like it…. and then it’s back to square one… So… we will be lucky if we have something picked out before the baby gets here in December.  Ha!

But I will say this…  when we DO pick out a name, I’m sticking to my guns on this one and NOT revealing the name until he is here!!!  :-)
