Randoms… part two…

Ok, so I’m back.  I’m off work for a week and I am soooooooo happy about it!  I’m worn out!!!!!!  I figured I would get more sleep working nights, but that isn’t the case.  I didn’t realize how much effort it takes to get Sweet Pea up in the mornings and fed and dressed and IN A GOOD MOOD (she’s not a morning person and it takes her a little while to get good and awake… and happy)…  So, it takes a while for us to get to school.  I get off work at 6:30am and we are lucky to make it to school by 9:00!!!  Haha!!  My goal in the beginning of all of this was to drop her off at 8 every morning and be home and in bed by 9…  Bahahaha!!!!  Sleep until 3 (6 hours of sleep)… Pick her up by 4…  But that isn’t exactly how it goes.  Some days I don’t get to sleep until 10:30 or 11.  But anyway…  On with the bullets and randomness…

  • I have decided to do the lady bug theme for Sweet Pea’s birthday party.  I was looking up stuff on Etsy and I found lots of cute things with lady bugs.  (And I’m trying to steer away from so much pink in general… And if it wasn’t for the lady bugs, we would probably be having a pink and black zebra party!  Haha!)  I have ordered her birthday outfit.  It think it’s going to be adorable!!!!!  I’m super excited about it.  I’m about to order her invitations so I can get them out in the next couple of weeks.  I think I’ve decided to just have it outside here at our house, if the weather permits.  If not, we will probably take it inside at Maw Maw’s since her house is bigger than ours.  So, I’m getting excited about her birthday stuff finally.  :-)
  • She is counting to 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Believe it or not… I was shocked myself!!  I was going to do a video of it tonight, but she was in an ill mood (I’ll explain that in a minute…)  So, I will try to get that tomorrow or sometime this week.
  • Her ill mood tonight…  I have decided it’s time to take the pacifier away.  I took it away from her when I got her from school today.  She asked for it on the way home, but I told her it had to go bye bye and she was a big girl!  She fussed a little, but I started singing to her and getting her to count for me and she forgot about it until we got home.  She was in the floor flopping around fussing for it at one point.  But I was strong and held my ground.  I didn’t give it to her until I put her in bed tonight and she pretty much went to bed instantly!  (She didn’t nap much at school today.)  I’m going to wean her off of it at night.
  • As far as school is going, we keep getting a better report every day.  They have changed teachers a couple of times, so I think that kind of threw her off a little.  I think they have a really good one in there right now though.  For a little while there, every time I checked the cameras, she would be crying and begging the teacher to pick her up and it just broke my heart.  But in the past few days with the new teacher, I have actually seen her down playing some, so that makes me feel much better.  Her new teacher has two young children of her own and seems to be very loving and caring (not that the teacher before that wasn’t).  But the other teacher doesn’t have children of her own and doesn’t have that motherlyness to her (<----how do you like my new word?!  Ha!).  So I think that made a big difference.  The owners of the school were thinking the same thing before I ever mentioned anything to them about it and were contemplating changing teachers anyway.  So I’m kind of glad they changed teachers.  I’m also going to send her 5 days a week for the next 2 or 3 weeks (starting Monday) to see if going every day is going to help get her used to it quicker.  I hate to send her when I’m off work, but I might just do it for half a day on my off days.  So anyway…  I’ll keep y’all posted on that!

I guess I’ve rambled enough for now.

Preschool and the sickies…

Well…  Sweet Pea started preschool on the 18th.  She cried and cried when we left.  Surprisingly, Mommy and Daddy didn’t (Daddy teared up a little… He told me he did).  I think I had prepared myself enough for it though.

I didn’t think to take a picture of us with Sweet Pea before she started crying.  But here is a picture of her and her teacher.

Bless her sweet heart!!!!  She was pitiful.  They said she finally calmed down after a little while.

She went three days that week.  Saturday she woke up with a fever…  I knew she would get sick when she started school, but I didn’t think it would be THAT quick!

She spent the night with my MIL Friday night and Saturday morning she said she could tell she was running fever and she had a snotty nose and was coughing.  She met Mr. Right at the local urgent care clinic (I was at work, but was getting off soon).  I went over there after work and they swabbed her for flu, strep, and RSV.  The RSV was the only thing positive.  So, they gave her an antibiotic and what they said was a cough syrup.  Tuesday rolled around and she still wasn’t any better.  Her fever was still around 102ish.  So, I called her pediatrician and set up an appointment for Wednesday morning.  He said she had an ear infection in both ears and prescribed her a stronger antibiotic and sent us on our way.

Wednesday night, I was talking to my mom and I picked Sweet Pea up to sit her in my lap and she was burning up big time.  So I checked her temp and it was 103.7 (the highest it’s been).  Mom said to take her to the ER.  So, that’s what I did.  I called Mr. Right to let him know what I was doing.  He had just started his shift at work.  He headed back to be with us (even though I told him it wasn’t necessary).  They did a rectal temp on her and it was 104.9!!  The doctor came in and talked to me a little bit… He checked her out… Left the room… Nurse came in and gave her some Motrin…. (I could have done that at home…)  Doc came back… Said she had strep (even though he never swabbed her????), said her ears were infected (as if I didn’t already know that….) and sent us on our way…  Needless to say… I was NOT impressed with her treatment… And this is the hospital I work at!  I’ve made my mind up though.  We will not be treated there anymore.  Ever.

So, her temp came down some.  And then Friday rolled around…  She still wasn’t any better (and yes I know that RSV take some time to get over… I know this.)  Dr. Mom (my mom) said I needed to take her back to the doctor because her cough was sounding really bad.  And it was bad.  I was afraid she had bronchitis or something.  Sooooo………

We went back to the urgent care clinic (the first place we went) and I told them that she wasn’t any better.  We finally got her fever gone, but everything else was the same or worse.  The did an xray on her chest.  It was clear (thank goodness!)  They swabbed again for flu… Negative.  They did another CBC (complete blood count) on her.  It was normal.  So….  I guess this virus is just hanging around longer than I expected.

They did give her an antibiotic shot and told us to take her off the Augmentin because it was giving her bad diarrhea.  She is barely drinking anything as it is… so we don’t want her to get dehydrated.  They prescribed her some steroids, so we are giving her those.  And other than that…..  We are just waiting it out…

Hopefully this virus will go away for good SOON!!!!

Oh… and if it isn’t bad enough that my child is sick.  So is Mr. Right.  He went to the doctor today and he’s got a bad sinus infection.  They gave him two shots and some prescriptions.  Maw Maw is sick.  My MIL and her husband are sick.

SICKIES GO AWAY!!!!!!!

Luckily I haven’t come down with anything… yet.  My throat was a little sore this morning and I’ve got a little drainage in the back of my throat, but I feel fine.  As long as it doesn’t morph in to anything else, I’ll be fine.  I need to get back on my multivitamin!

Anywho…  Hope everyone else is staying well!

Changes….

Well, it looks like we are finally going to make the ever so dreaded leap in to preschool/daycare…

And I am SCARED… and NERVOUS…. and FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!

I just might need some Valium the first day we drop her off!  Ha!

I have already been crying this morning just reading through the packet.  I never thought it would be this hard.  But I guess when you are leaving your child with a stranger for most of the day… it can be a little nerve racking!!

Anyway…

So, why are we doing this??

Well…. I/we have made the decision for me to go to night shift at work.  My shift will be from 8pm-6:30am.  I know you all are probably thinking I’m crazy for going to night shift…. (everyone at work thinks the same thing!… but for other reasons)  But I think it will be fine.  Sweet Pea and I are already having to stay at Maw Maw’s house on my work days anyway…  The only difference will be that I’m not going to be there half of the night like I am right now.

I’m kind of excited about going to night shift.  I worked it at a previous job and I loved it.  I’m hoping I will like this change.

On to the preschool info…

We’ve decided to send her 5 days a week to start out.  I figured she will get used to it faster if she is going every day rather than going part time.  And we can always drop her down to 2 or 3 days a week if we want to.  They are open from 6:30a-6:00p.  Mr. Right and I will both be sleeping during the day while she is at school, and we can pick her up in the afternoon when we wake up (probably around 3).

One thing that we really liked about this preschool is the fact that they have cameras.  We can go online at any time of the day and pull up the site and see what’s going on in our child’s class.  How cool is that?!  I heard about this when I lived in Baltimore, MD a few years ago, and I thought it was the coolest thing!  I’m thrilled to have found a school here that has them.  Oh, and the site requires a password, so only the parents can see the cameras… not just anybody!

Mr. Right worked at a day care when he was in college.  I was shocked when I found this out because you don’t really see a lot of men in that profession.  But he loved it.  He said he would feel comfortable sending Sweet Pea to this daycare, so I guess that’s it.  I’m kind of glad he worked in a daycare because he knew what to expect and what to look for when we did our tour.  So, having him approve of it makes me a little at ease about it.

But anyway….  We haven’t decided exactly what day we are going to start her.  I assume it will be in the next week or two…  We both want to be able to take her on her first day, so we might wait until the 17th…  I’m not sure yet…

Please say a prayer for us!!!  I hope she adjusts to this well and enjoys going.  And I hope I adjust well and don’t have a breakdown every day!  Ha!

From bad to good...

That's how my day has gone.

Last night was pretty horrible!  Sweet Pea did NOT want to sleep.  I put her down at 8:30ish and at midnight, she was standing in her crib crying.  So...what do I do..??  Put her in the bed with me and try to get her back to sleep.  Now, her doctor said that I don't need to be doing that...but I don't care!  He isn't the one having to listen to her scream and cry all night!  He is also a supporter of the "cry it out" method, and I'm sorry, but I just can't do that.  It breaks my heart to hear her scream and cry.  And one time when I tried that method, I had a horrible dream that night and it made me feel like the worst mother ever.  So, get over it doc!  Anywho...

So, I put her in bed with me and normally she will go right back to sleep....but last night...not so much!  I don't know if her gums were hurting or what, but she refused to go to sleep!  Every time I laid her down, she started crying and sat back up. Ev-er-y time!  I think she finally wore herself out and fell asleep around 3:30 or 4.

So, she slept a little later than normal today...about 9:15.  Mr. Right got her and fed her.  I got up shortly after and was just in a bad mood.....  Mr. Right told me I had an attitude...and maybe I did, but after the night I had, what do you expect?!  Not to mention, I had a headache when I got up.  So.... Sweet Pea got fed and I let her play for a little bit in her play yard while I checked my eye lids for holes.  (Haha!  My dad always says that!)  She started getting fussy and I took her to lay down.  We took a nap and the day was starting to get better.  Now, all I needed was for my head to stop hurting and to get a very much needed shower!

Well... Maw Maw came and got Sweet Pea after I fed her lunch and bathed her.  I got my shower, and my headache is gone.  So, everything is good.............

And then......

Mr. Right wakes up to get a bite to eat, and he asks if I checked the mail.  I hadn't yet...so he walks out to get it.  And comes back with a big envelope and hands it to me....

Can you guess it???

Yep!  I PASSED MY PHLEBOTOMY CERTIFICATION!!!!!!  :-D

I know it may not seem like a big deal, but it IS a big deal to ME!!!!  So...my day has gone from bad to good...or GREAT!!!  Yay!!!  :-)  :-)  :-)

Now, if someone would just call me back about a job!  Ha!
